And here in FL no matter how much compost you add, the sand rises. Pineapples seems to do fine in the mess; most plants stay puny and don't grow well for many folks.

I remember clay--white throwable stuff. I amended annually with truckloads of leaf mould/mulch which was never stirred or shaken for more than 10 years before I could step down to a biennial program for the most part. After over 25 years, I had 20" of black gold! I suspect the same could happen here but everyone tells me I'm wrong. These are the same people who tell me FL has 2 distinct growing seasons requiring "cool" and "warm" plants but they plant kale, cabbage and broccoli seeds in March that just get going by June when it's beginning to get hotter than Hades--HELLO?
