I used a systemic last year on my brugs and a couple on bananas. Your are right the stuff does work well. Gotta get some more.

Since my bananas don't fruit I just used off the shelf ......I think it was a Bonide brand systemic.

Ferns do not tolerate systemics or certain petro based insecticides,
Certain death to the plant is sure, trial and error there.
The Bayer Complete(imidacloprid) formula seems to work so far for the "go to" product for my tropical plants.

I am a firm believer that insecticides should be used with common sense and should target a chosen insect, I never like to see collateral death to other untargeted insects.
I have a foodchain in the yard to keep intact for the critters/birds
