keep them dry, like you've already figured out.
If it's really sunny,you'll still have to water them occasionally, sometimes once a week to ten days in less sun, if they're really underpotted and rootbound, more often. Look for the same signs as in summer, if the leaves fold down and petioles crease, they're too dry.
I always lose 3-4 leaves per plant overwintering that way too.
After the days get longer, they'll start growing again.
