What was the average daily temperature for you since May? A lot higher than mine. Bananas need heat to grow and mature and I don't get much of it. At your house, summer is like the tropics. At my house it isn't like the tropics during summer. Like a friend of mine once said, "the coldest winter I ever had was a summer in Ventura!"
Those zone numbers are mostly based on minimum annual temperatures, not maximum annual temperatures.
