Default Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

The winter winds were harsh on the 3 AeAe mats, but new growth had emerged

Hello?!?

Almost...

There

Now you might be thinking to yourself that "wow, that's an unimpressive bunch of AeAes" and from a variegation standpoint I would agree. The idea that AeAes leaves revert to mostly green in basic, clay soils is indeed correct in my experience. I've started amending with coffee grounds, bbq and fireplace ash, and other organics which has brought out more variegation in the small to medium size pups. Upside is that all that extra chlorophyll seems to have helped their growth, these things are beasts... almost touch the power lines. I just hope my bananas are stripey.
