I'm guessed that prolonged death valley temps combined with 8% humidity made you do it. I felt that way after the 9 day freeze this year did so much damage to my naners.
The concept of growing stuff where a green house is required with an AC unit comes to mind. That would be nuts, and too much added expense!
Post pics - include the machete in full swing!
