What kind of banana is it? How big is the container it's in now?

In general, you'll want a soil with good drainage, at least 50% peat or coir, and fairly rich as well, at least 25% compost and/or organics. If it's just a pup, start in about a 25 gal container and repot as it outgrows. If it's fairly large, start with at least a 50 gal - you should have at least 2" of space around the corm.

Welcome aboard!
