![]() What kind of banana is it? How big is the container it's in now?
In general, you'll want a soil with good drainage, at least 50% peat or coir, and fairly rich as well, at least 25% compost and/or organics. If it's just a pup, start in about a 25 gal container and repot as it outgrows. If it's fairly large, start with at least a 50 gal - you should have at least 2" of space around the corm. Welcome aboard! |

![]() Welcome to the site! I hope you enjoy it here and learn a lot! I'm gonna have to disagree with Beth on the 25 gallon pot, though (I still love you Beth!!). I'd start off in a 7 gallon, maybe...and even that can be a bit large at times. From my experiences, if you put small plants in too large of pots (especially true for indoors), they don't dry out forever and this can lead to rot or fungus gnats, etc. Eventually, when they get large, they will need big pots 25 gal. or larger (or better yet, in the ground during warm months), but when they're small, I'd save a bit of space and go smaller. Purely from my experience here, and some of the experts may disagree. Best of luck!
