Too bad you live on the wrong side of the country, Sherry, or I would be ringing your doorbell right now.
![]() As it is, we will head next door to the neighbours and bum dinner from them ![]() I don't think, that they would be too enchanted with me, if I recorded the grub photographically ![]()

Of course we did, Sherry, I really pigged out and stayed until they kicked us out ![]() Seriously, the lady put on a fantastic spread. She really likes to cook gourmet style. That of course creates a dilemma for us. There is no way we can reciprocate in kind. I hope the husband meant it, when he said that he liked my front yard and wants to do something similar with his. He just retired and has now more time to do it. Maybe I can help him with providing some of my plants and muscle. ![]()

Guess what? This morning the neighbour came over with a tray of turkey meat, stuffing 3 kinds of
veggies, cranberry sauce – the works. There are only two explanations: 1. I have behaved reasonably civilized ![]() 2. The neighbours are tired of the leftovers I like to assume #1 and take full credit for it ![]()

![]() I had previously spoken to 3 different ones of her Grade 12 history classes about the Nazi era. Last night she approached me about doing the same on Globalization. I am not sure she meant it and I didn't think I wanted to do it, but after I got back home I considered it and found, that there was a lot I could talk about on the subject. So just an hour ago I roughed out a concept and emailed it to her, but the elephant in the room is our trip to Vietnam and preparations for it won't leave me enough time to flesh out the details in preparation. So I could not do it before March 20, 2012. I presume by that time her class will be well past the subject. [ ] Phew! ![]()

It's tradition for me to make a roast beef each year for new year's. Here's the Angus Prime Rib I cooked at my mom's place...
![]() Ontario is the beef province of Canada so we have the best. This one came from a farm, and the quality and flavor were superior to the ones I've bought from the grocery store. Way more juicy and tender too. I made it with onions and fresh Bay leaves from my tree, adding worchestershire near the end of cooking... ![]() The gravy came out incredible too. So rich and full of beef flavor... ![]() Ok I gotta confess...my mom made the gravy. She is what I call a professional gravy maker! It's always unbelievably amazing and if some other gravy makers would like some tips on how to make the best fricken gravy on the planet, let me know...![]() Made mashed potatoes and carrots glazed with butter and brown sugar. The meal was super delicious... ![]() : ) |

This is the nicest and most expensive dinner we had in Vietnam last year. Including wine it was $50/couple.
You can bet your last boots, that we will stop there again this year. And this time I will have a better camera for twilight and low light (image stabilizer; the little tripod on table tops will be obsolete). This little slide show is my first attempt at it. So bear with me on the quality. ![]()

Okay, it is obvious, that I have no clue how to upload a slide show. So therefore I’ll have to do it the
hard way: Load the pictures up individually. I trust, That I will be forgiven. I tried first to deliver that in more compact form, but failed miserably ![]() On the way back, we glanced into some of the rooms

Re: What'cha havin' for dinner ???
That is so beautiful, Olaf. I love the fish-shaped carrots. That is just way too cool. Hey thanks for showing us that.
![]() I bet you'll be going back to that place! ![]() P.S. I'm kinda glad you failed miserably at sending them in compact form! I like big pictures. The bigger the better. ![]() : ) |

Thanks Sherry,
as I said in the failed post below, it was by far the most expensive meal in Vietnam so far at $50.- for two including wine. And while the food presentation was the most artful one, we encountered, it was certainly not the only artful one.
