Today's Farmers market visit revealed everyone getting ready to tomorrows wood carving auction. 2nd Annual Carving for the Cure to benefit breast cancer. I'm heading back tomorrow.
TONS and TONS of cool power tools, trucks, trailers, great food and plants.

I didn't win Nothing, kinda distracted but I did help run the bids up!




A BLIND old man did a few of the auctions for a short time. Was interesting....
Too many out-of-state Millionaires for me to afford anything but I have know doubt this raised much money for a good cause... was fun.
I got an orange mint plant. ;)

In early March I had my frozen/burst waterline to my home replaced.....the fellas cut through three lines of my irrigation, inherently about five cups of pea gravel got in the lines...
Here is the result...Today.

According to this recipe, you don't make rum with coconuts. Making Rum From Scratch Buy some of that Lopez stuff in a can if you want a Pina Colada. If you can't figure out what to do with it, PM me and I'll forward my address; heck, I've even had moonshine in NC so I'm not scared!

I have made some "stuff" with my grandmothers pressure cooker and some corn squeezins.

I made "must be illegal" apple jack when I lived in Ohio. Holy cow! It was strong but it slide down the gullet easily. I figured out that you sit down in a very comfie chair when imbibing and, if you have more than a shot glass or 2, don't plan to stand up until morning.

I didn't buy one but I spotted my first store banana of the year at (H.P. NC) Lowes 5/24 (I go there almost once a week)!

A couple days before (maybe 5/21) I saw a banana being returned at Walmart from a 2013 purchase! I ask the assistant with the mangled banana being return if I could buy it... she looked at me like I was crazy and said no store policy blah blah. :( lol... it would have lived (none in-stock currently)... IDK how it made it through winter with an ignorant owner...wuz 8'+... must have been house kept... should have took a pic of that....

I have a copy of the recipe that George Washington used to make "beer" for his consumption. . . A quick perusal of the ingredients makes me think it was closer to the ferment later distilled to make Rum than actual beer. There is a heckovalot of molasses in there and not a lot of barley or hops.

Still, as mankind has shown again and again, it doesn't matter where you get your sugars so long as the yeast will eat it and make you some alcohol.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go check the gravity readings on my mead in the basement. . .
