Found this in the attic this morning & it looks like fun! Update 10-30-09: Richard was curious so I checked with dad. The book is an original copy printed in 1967. |
Re: Share an image!
This was taken in my backyard in june. Apparently a volcano erupting in Japan caused some breath taking sunsets for the east coast fo the USA, and even though it was cloudy on this particular day, the sky is still very colorful and unusual.
I also got in the fronds of my huge potted pygmy palm to add a little tropical effect. |

Another one of mine of a giant sunflower I grew! :)

Re: Share an image!
I grew a bunch of giant sunflowers this year & cut a couple heads off to put on deck for the birds. There was a blue jay feeding on one & kept pecking on the glass door like he wanted to come in. He saw his reflection. Also, a red headed woodpecker hanging upside down eating the seeds LOL. The flower heads got HUGE...they sure attract a lot of birds!
|
Re: Share an image!
Sunflowers are great! I used to plant all different kinds (there are some sweet red ones and a fuzzy orange one (think it's called teddy bear or something). I also find it very interesting that farmers have to plant them in rows that go North-South so that when the heads follow the sun they don't scrape across each other and cause seeds to fall out. Interesting, huh?

Re: Share an image!
I love those Teddy Bear ones! I think all my sunflowers this year were retarded. None of them moved to follow the sun, but then I planted one long row east to west LOL. It's either that or they were just too big to move.
