Yep! Still flipping there. I'm going to keep bugging these people about it!

Re: Rant of the Day..
So Palm tree is still there, so tracked down a guy. He made some calls and they said Palm doesn't belong to them. It's mine if I want it! AWESOME! But they said go through HOA before planting it. So that takes at least 30 days. They said I could move it into the backyard to keep it safe. As first come first serve if someone else asks about it. Only problem now is getting it to my house! I don't have a truck, trailer or a bobcat and they are pretty expensive to rent for a few minutes. I have thought if I had a way to get it a few streets over to my house and just plant it myself. But if a builder looked around for it an saw it planted, then checked up he would see no HOA paperwork approved.

They rent out trucks or pick-up trucks. You do not have to buy merchandise from them to do so. Last time I checked, it was $19 for 90 minutes ( unlimited mileage). |
Re: Rant of the Day..
Not really close. But still no way to get it on the truck. Thanks though.

Why aren't you dressing for the "experience"? Or are you?
|
Re: Rant of the Day..
I never thought to drop the "u"...interesting. Just up the road is Mims and there is a saying about that area.
I'd love to have a driver dressed as a kqueen (?) but 1st I want a house fixer or maybe a fiddlehead fern start or 2 for my very shady backyard.:ha: |
Re: Rant of the Day..
Wife and girlfriend? Bring them both if they're handy with a hammer. :ha:
I honestly doubt WM here has fidddleheads but will check. I have ferns; I can find more but I'm interested in known edibles. (And if there are others, let me know.) And I have enough going on that ferns are not at the top of my list. |
Re: Rant of the Day..
A guy was walking by our property today and looked at the banana plants in disbelief that they can be grown in San Diego.
I offered him a taste sample of my latest homegrown tall Namwah bunch. He liked it and said "they taste good - just like Chiquita". Guess, what? No more taste samples for you, Sir. Those taste so much better. |
Re: Rant of the Day..

What variety? I have "Sugarloaf" growing very well this year and have been told that their cores are nicely soft and edible. BTW, good to see you are back on here. |
Re: Rant of the Day..
WHY CAN'T A COMPANY MAKE THE SAME PRODUCT FOR THREE YEARS STRAIGHT?
BECAUSE IT'S A PIECE OF JUNK AND IF THEY STILL MADE IT I'D BUY A NEW ONE, SWAP PARTS AND RETURN IT AS DEFECTIVE !!!!!! THAT AND PEOPLE WILL THINK THE NEW MODEL HAS THE BUGS FIXED FROM THE LAST MODEL. NOPE, JUST MORE LIPSTICK ON A DIFFERENT PIG! Ok rant over. :0519: |
Re: Rant of the Day..
People who join this forum, never bother introducing themselves in the Welcome section, post pictures asking members to ID their plants and then get huffy when nobody jumps to attention to do so. All this while never even mentioning where they live or giving out information such as where they procured their plants. Makes me think they just stumbled onto the site though a search. Which is fine. But did they not read anything here? If they had, they'd have gotten a feel for the place. Yes, I found this site through a search and didn't join right away but, when I did, I did introduce myself. No excuse for rude barging in IMO.

Re: Rant of the Day..
Got a new one. People who join and just post stupid pictures in the gallery. I don't know how to flag them but seriously I am not planning to learn Chinese and his other picture doesn't even show up when you click on it. Why? Why bother? What's the point? Must be an inside joke somewhere....

Re: Rant of the Day..
Critters in my yard. Raccoons eating all the fruit scraps I put around my bananas for potassium and nitrogen and digging up all my piles of grass clippings. Then there's tree rats (AKA squirrels) waiting patiently to eat my mangoes, guavas, watermelons, pineapples and bananas before I get to. I think there may be other critters out there as well... It never ends!
It seems the only way to fix it is to get another critter to put in my yard to chase away all those, but they bark all the time, and dig up things after I plant them plus cost me food money... Don't get me started on fungus... I live in Florida. |
Re: Rant of the Day..
My circular ginger is blooming again in S. Ark and comes back every year.. Flowers are white.. Howdy fine Folks.. :^)

Re: Rant of the Day..
I am ranting about local garden and Facebook "wanna be" gardeners today trying to give advice, recommending online suppliers and more.
Lately I have seen banana plants offered which produce bananas with a taste of peach, priced at $40+ per pup. Argh, but of course they have NO idea what variety they are growing. I understand taste is subjective, but .... Or another example: someone recommended Basjoo as a dessert banana .... Next person recommended online nurseries like "Florida Hill" . Same person posted "that bananas don't grow well in San Diego". Yeah, sure, if you get plants with AA genetics or plants of unknown parentage just labeled "banana"..... Next person had the following advice: "bananas have to be cut and trimmed in a certain way otherwise they will not produce AGAIN" - aha, tell me more about it, interesting :) I can go on and on, but I stop here. I really appreciate "bananas.org" as this forum and (most) of its members have taught me so much. Don't mind to share my experience and knowledge and I do not claim to know it all, but reading posts on FB or garden groups like the above mentioned really go under my skin and it is really difficult to deal with people like that. Rant over. Will stay away from FB and stick around on bananas.org. |
