Default New Year, New Computer, New Problems

I finally gave up on trying to keep my old computer limping along, and got a new one. This one has Windows 8. When I go into bananas.org, all of the latest pictures, across the top, are just blank white squares.

Also, when I look at my e-mail, it starts out small, in the middle of the page. The other day, I clicked on something to make it full screen, but can't remember what it was. Does anyone know what it was?

In e-mail, this one has, on the left:
Inbox
Sent
Drafts
Spam Detector Empty

On the old one, I had a few more folders, among them, "John's Stuff", where I could move stuff I wanted to save for a while, by clicking on a button called Move To Folder. Does anyone know how I can do it on this one?

I have windows 8 too what you need help with...live mail?
you can make as many new folders that you want to make
under file click on new and name that folder john's stuff if u like..
as for the blank picture windows 8 you have to allow sharing for everything you do and make sure you have tiles on to view pics from other sites...big difference from windows xp for sure.....but once you get the hang of it is much better for sure. Everything is a lot easier to organize. And it would help to look at your personal settings what you have set up for your computer, and don't forget you have support from the manufacturer for I believe the first 90 days on software issues.so ring that phone number, you payed for it....use it...

Thanks for your reply, but I don't even see, "File" on here. I know on xp it was in the upper left hand corner, right under the back button.

For new folders, sometimes called directoies but both have the same meaning we store our files in them.

So, desktop -> right click -> new ->name it whatever you like. We grab our files on the desktop and drag them to the folder, move is no longer there as an option.

As soon as you hit the folder let the mouse go and check the files are there in the new folder.

If that does'nt work go to my link, its Microftsof Windows 8

Microsoft Support

Or as kubali suggested phone your supplier, these days help books don't usually ship with the machine. Whatever you do keep everything in a safe place that came with the machine. If you need to ring Microsoft they will ask for certain details of the machine to check for authenciticy.

Good luck!

I don't know if I have Windows Live. How do I get it? When I had the old computer, with xp, I looked at my mail on Outlook Express. I used the e-mail address
johnson291@verizon.net with no problem. I had been using this address, ever since I first got Verizoon FiOS, which was years ago. When I bought the new machine, the guy in the store told me I couldn't use that address on the Windows site, so he put 2 icons on my desktop, one called Verizon e-mail, and one called Windows e-mail. (When I said I couldn't find "File", I was looking at the mail on the Verizon site.)

top left side under file, click to where it says about. And it will tell you what you got, and what version of it it is
but my friend if I was you I would save my self some time and just call whom you got the comp from...easiest way really. Good luck.

I went from XP to Windows 7. I was shocked at the changes. The menu bar was by default shown on all previous versions of Windows. Beginning with Vista it is still there but hidden by default.

There are several bars available at the top of the page. Right click each of the ones that show. One or more of them will pop up a menu. If you click on menu bar, file reappear back where always has been.

The newer versions have a lot more features and therefore things that were familiar are now harder to find.

George.
