I'll be using this as a boder around all my trees to separate the DG from the lava rock that will go around the trees. This will go on after landsacpe fabric.

That's a small ring for a Butia... in a few years, the trunk base circumference will be as big as that ring. Do you plan on making it bigger in the coming years? Just curious.

A guy down the street has a bunch of big ones in pots growing next to his house there good size and have lots of fruit on them. I didnot think they would grow here in Fresno but he has them I saw them myself.

If I need to yes.Their 10' in circumference should be fine for years.

Butias are pretty hardy from what I understand

They should grow fine in Fresno, a friend of mine has it in ground here in Bakersfield.

They're very hardy. They can grow here in my z8a climate of Southeast Virginia without any problems (most years). This past winter was a rough one, with 14 inches of snow and quite a few nights in the mid-teens.
