How do I get out of this one?
Just when I was thinking of clearing out one of my 3 mats of dwarf cavendish to make way for another mat of something a bit more special - maybe tall reds, my gardener came today with a nice sized pup for me of gineo normal, which around here is usually a dc. Now the question is - what to do? The last thing I want is another dc, but he will be looking to see where I have planted his gift, and I am running out of suitable places. Help!!!

You can donate it. TO ME! (lol). Benny |
Re: How do I get out of this one?
Give it a marginally suitable place, then. Or wait for one of your existing DCs to bloom out and then plant it there.

Ask your gardener to make a new, small bed for it in any neglected area that needs something 'special' to spruce it up. This could even be a quiet corner that you never plan to visit....lol
Even still, it would validate his gesture and perhaps brighten his day. Tis' the season after all. |
Re: How do I get out of this one?
If I were lucky enough to have a gardener I'd treat him like a king. He must think a lot of you to give you the gift so If it were me I'd suck it up and plant it in a special spot. You can still get rid of your DC's somehow..........besides you never know what he'll come up with next! Lagniappe said it best " tis the season".

Pete, Lorax, Bob - well I will have to find a place for it - maybe next to the compost heap where there is space, but I only have a small plot. Of course the guys have all been munching on the fruit from the tall red, which have all ripened and been given away or eaten, so perhaps they are ensuring a future supply of fruit. lol

Re: How do I get out of this one?
That's how it worked when I had a gardener - we worked it out where he'd take half of whatever bunch was ripe at the time. He kept bringing new fruiting plants! Then again, that place had 4.5 hectares, so there was lots of room. The only problem was irrigation, since it got extremely dry in the summertime.

Lorax - it is so much fun!! I only have a third of an acre and with the palms, pool and gingers.... but we are usually wet and I am sure I can squeeze another plant in!
