When I was a teenager, my parents and I used to visit The Seaside banana plantation up by Carpinteria. That was phenomenal. I think that guy had at least 30 or 40 different types of bananas, and was the first time I saw an Ae Ae. Pretty cool back then to walk through a lush Banana forest. Of course, that was before I went on hikes into the forbidden valley on Oahu, where I was absol. astounded at the wild bananas growing there. Was still fun to go to the local plantation, and I think I read that in the late 90's, the poor guy's plantation was wiped out when there was a mudslide, and the side of the mountain covered half of his bananas. I know when I stop by the fruit stand there today, you still see an abnormally large amount of banana trees just growing all over town. Ahh... fond memories!
