This is my first attempt at air layering. Wish me luck.

Not sure what a caldomin is. I've heard of Kalamansi, and Calamondin. Could it be one of those? Both are sour with Kalamansi about the size of a golf ball, and Calamondin about double that size.

Good luck Dean. I did this using a clear plastic cup ... it holds the peat moss better. Cut the cup from lip to bottom & to center of bottom. At bottom, cut a hole the diameter of the branch. Open cup & slip it onto the branch using a clothes pin to hold cup in place - w/the rooting part about 2-3 inches from bottom. Then, pack the cup w/moss & water.
My biggest mistake was cutting it off too soon.

Dean, after looking again, I'm wondering if you shoulda use a green branch instead of the bigger brown one. Also, I wonder if you have enough peat on it. It's not too late to do the plastic cup thing or just to add more peat. I used a 8oz cup & saw lots of roots inside. Only one time I cut it off too soon. Make sure it has enough roots & enough peat to hold them. This could take 2-3 months. Keep us posted.

Okay, thanks Patty! I was unsure how much peat to use. I just used that branch becuase I was unsure what else to use.
Thanks again! |
