Missing "Read first unread"

How come some posts don't contain the "Read First Unread" feature at the top of the thread? I've been noticing this for a few weeks now. Not a big deal; just curious.

OK, I'm ashamed to admit it. But your post caused me to notice this feature for the first time since I've been a member.

Nothing to feel bad about, Howard. I've done the exact same thing when someone mentions something before. I'm just trying to figure out why I don't see it at the top of all threads, as I thought that was the intent.

I believe it only shows up on threads which you've visited already. Have you visited the ones without the mark? Also, if you've already visited it since the last post was made to the thread, the mark disappears.

Kinda old thread but I also want to point out that when you do a search for new threads, or any other type of search, to the left of the thread title is this image:

When you click that, it will take you to the first new post of the thread.
