Yeah, sounds like a gibberish Slovak to me. As if you were speaking drunk Slovak. :08:

I forgot, until the Greek missionaries came to the Central Europe, the Bible was only in Latin... now I get why all Polaks could speak Latin. :ha:

Re: Weather forecast

Do you mean Cyril and Methodius?? - they never made strong influence here, in these times when they worked in Moravia, Church in Poland was a part of German Church - Magdeburg Diocese.

Latin ritual in Church (Roma Rite) was used till 1970.
In July 2007 Pope Benedict XVI restored this tradition and now in every diocese some masses (usually one mass in Month) are in Latin.

About this sentence, it is Old Polish and translation is hard even to me, but it means something like this:
Lets all the outside nations know, that Poles are not goose, and their own language have.

I'll join the race!!!
I would suggest the following rule:
First FULL new and completly unfolded leaf grown in 2011 wins. Outdoor of course!
Container or in ground is both ok, but the new leaf should be 100% grown outdoors with no overnight shelter indoors. As soon as the nana is outside, the contest starts.

No one has any chance against my Basjoo.... it is actually growing one leaf every two week despite being in January.:08:
Also my Musella Lasiocarpa is growing back after the -4 stop of 3 weeks ago.

Sooooo what did I win ??????:ha:

P.S.
I know to be in an unfair advantage... to make things fair I could compete with a non hardy cultivar from my collection. :bananas_b

Re: Weather forecast

I was scouting the min and max temps in US this period ,and I was amazed to see that I have the same exactly temps of south Florida.... this winter must be very bad for our american pals....

Look:
High max

Low min:

47 Fh is 8 celsius and 65 Fh is 18 celsius.... today I had 9° celsius and now we are close to 20° under the sun.

I can't even look above Florida.... it's freezing up there, except from southern California.....

The Orinoco mat i had showed you pictures of before, which is situated at the center of Athens(where it barely reached 0C,if it did) is growing here as well! But my IC isnt showing any growth since our -3C in Melissia....

I am in for an edible cultivar banana race,i have no pure species banana here.

Ooops, you didn`t get me right...I wanted to suggest a different kind of race...much easier actually. :ha: Just ordering musas from Thailand and waiting for them to arrive...very boring compared to your version.

At some polish forum people compete whose rose blooms first:ha:

Linda, have you checked your banana outdoor, my roted inside even if looks quite good at the beginning. This year I dug all my bananas up, but even indoor the grow very slowly.

This January is very mild, we had -27C at this time last year.
Ps. Rick, Do you know how to say "yes" in Slovak?

Not yet, but I don`t expect anything bad. It`s protected from rain and our lowest temperature has been -8°C so far. That`s not too cold. If it rots - so what? No risk, no fun. :ha:
