Looking for Basjoo pollen
I have a Basjoo flowering at the moment and wondered if anyone had any pollen they could send?

Re: Looking for Basjoo pollen
Why do you need pollen? Our bananas flower and bear fruit without other plants or flowers, so am wondering what you plant to do with the basjoo pollen. Also, how long does it remain viable and how to ship to keep it viable? PJKFarm@gmail.com

Re: Looking for Basjoo pollen
Basjoo is a species banana so needs pollen for the fruit to swell and set seed. No pollen; no seed and no banana.

Re: Looking for Basjoo pollen
I learned something new. Did you ever get any fruit out of it?

Re: Looking for Basjoo pollen
No fruit sadly. Interesting to see it flower though.

I have read this thread post #9 but still on the fence. http://www.bananas.org/f15/basjoo-se...tml#post127867 I have never had the fingers fill completely because of the short grow window I have. ![]() Basjoo flower by Hostafarian, on Flickr |
Re: Looking for Basjoo pollen
I get fully developed fingers here, but they are full of diamond-hard seeds the size of a Volkswagen bug. Pretty much useless for anything edible, unless you take the time to pull them apart and make some 'nanner puddin' or something.
