I went to Home Depot this weekend and saw these Oak whiskey barrel planters on sale and it gave me an idea to be able to grow bananas in parts of my yard that aren't ideal to be planted directly on the ground. These are 25 gallon barrels and should be easy to drill some drain holes.
What do you guys think? Would it only be feasible for smaller dwarf varieties? What about bigger banana plants? ![]()

I have a couple. I pulled a pup off of my bordelon and it's by my pool. It is really looking great. It's perfect for that variety because of the way the pups grow and fills out the pot. It is doing just as I had hoped.

To extend the life of your wood container plant a container that fits inside of the barrel...and remove it at the end of season ![]() Plant filler plants such as perennial oxalis to fill the pot. The plant is tolerant to low water conditions and takes a lot of garden abuse. Great takeaways on the web.... Last edited by cincinnana : 09-01-2020 at 05:30 PM. |
