From my experience, certain varieties develop a pinkish hue on certain areas when they are in full sun. My Ice Cream had a lot of pink on it when it was younger (edges of leaves, petioles, pstem, midrib, etc), but it has faded away since it's gotten older. My SDC also commonly has pinkish outlines on certain structures when in full sun. I'm not sure if goldfinger also commonly has such pigmentation, but if so, I wouldn't worry about it.

I was wondering if it was the sun. When it was younger I had it out in the sun and the same thing happened. Though it was still in shock from shipping and its leaves were also dieing. I am keeping a close eye on these leaves hoping that it is just the sun and not a sign of worse things.
It has been out in the sun for a few weeks but I did move it out a few feet for an hour or two more of sun. So I guess it could just be the sun like you said. Learn all kinds of stuff here, I love it. |

Because they're supposed to. My goldfinger looks like that too.

Really, yours looks that way too? All the pictures I have seen I don't see that in the goldfinger so I looked here http://bananas.bioversityinternation...ia_fhia_en.pdf and didn't see anything about pink, but it should be green. Though is was referring to pseudostem and not the petiole but thay are basically the same thing.
It doesn't look bad so I will just go with it for now. |

I don't think pink is ever a 'bad' thing, so you really have nothing to worry about or keep a close eye on.

The only thing that is really puzzling me is it is now growing slow, slow, slow. It may be because it is getting cooler at night high 50s low 60s. As long as it is not dying I am ok. |

A watched pot never boils right? They grow so fast though it is hard not to check all the time. So to take my eagerness out of the picture I have been measuring the petiole growth and comparing it to the past. It was averaging an inch a day now it is about 1/4 inch a day. The newest leafs petiole is half the length of the one before it and I just noticed a new leaf down inside the petiole. I am sure it is fine though. Thanks for the picture sunfish. Have you had yours long enough to pup? I am wondering how long it might be till I get one. |

I have had mine for a couple months now. So I think by spring I should at least have one.
Hey Abnshrek, do yo have to winter yours inside. I have been wondering if I should bring mine in come winter. If you don't and your in 8b then mine should be fine. |
