What is your zone and location? A Mekong Giant while sounds inviting ....might not be a good fit for your landscape application. Basjoos are a very economical answer to"want the big one" in most situations. |

I’m in NJ. Zone 7a. I was going to overwinter in a garage. Are there any other unclumping bananas that you know of?

Basjoos clump/run up to 12+ inches per season. Side by side ...you will never know the difference from one plant to the next.......they look the same to a backyard gardener. Soooo. you can get a basjoo and call it a cool name like Nj giant and no one will know the difference.. Both plants clump.... just with different growth patterns. For your grow zone and keeping the plant in the ground year round with minimal maintenance the plants mentioned are your best landscape option. Me.....basjoo hands down. There are a few vendors who sell the plant that are forum members. Last edited by cincinnana : 03-31-2021 at 08:30 PM. |

If you need additional information...just ask.
I grow both side by side for comparison. Each is unique . Both plants are awesome.... ![]() Last edited by cincinnana : 04-01-2021 at 06:16 PM. |
