I have previously harvested an SH3640, and I remember liking them too. The SH3640 I sampled yesterday (before they went into the dehydrator) I don't believe were completely ripe yet. I may sample a bit more as time progresses. :)

Note*. The blue java bananas in the picture were actually a bit of a surprise. In my case, the plant lowered the bunch to the ground-which, based on a different previous harvest to me seemed like a signal that the bunch should be ripe. (For example, a prior SH3640 bunch started turning yellow shortly after reaching ground level. but this year's actually were yellowing on the plant, so I cut the bunch down.) However, there was no yellow on the Blue java to be found, and I cut one off-it was not pleasant tasting and a bit dry. I thought maybe the plant had developed some problem I wasn't aware of. I almost threw the whole bunch out. However, for some reason I decided to do what I normally do, and tied the bunch with some rope to hang on my ladder-and left it alone. After a few days of green, the yellow appeared. and that was that. :)

I'm sure your findings are correct but with my plants Manzano and Dwarf Namwah there is very little difference. The Manzano mat consist of 10 plants (not counting sword suckers) starting at 4 feet and up all of them have the same style petioles (straight with erect margins). One plant has fruit and the third leaf down looks exactly the same as all the other leaves. The Namwah mat consist of five plants (not counting sword suckers) starting at 28 inches and up. The Namwah petioles (margins curved inward) were slightly different some have a small space between the margins and some do not, none of the margins were overlapping. One plant has a flag leaf and the third leaf down has no space between the margins. With my plants each variety generally has the same style and shape petiole.


Thanks for sharing I never thought there could be such a difference in petiole styles with the same plant.
