Re: what is the best website to buy a banana plant
Just FYI...you can always edit any previous post (as many times as you want) by clicking the 'edit' button at the bottom.
And as for Ebay....they have some good listings. Some are overpriced, some are decent. I've never ordered any plants from ebay, though I did order some seeds recently. The one thing to watch is their shipping time. I've seen some that quote a month or more....and let's be honest...most of us bananaheads are WAY to anxious about these things to wait a month! :) |
Re: what is the best website to buy a banana plant
X2 for Ebay, you can even get Ae Ae seeds on there :lurk: (just kidding, I have seen some good deals on Ebay)
Might I suggest bananas.org (if you haven't already). I think it is a fantastic site. If I recall I originally used Greenearth. Had no problems. Now I am out of room. But when I do need a plant or have the opportunity for a new plant a nearby member has kept me well stocked. Which as always I am grateful. |
Re: what is the best website to buy a banana plant

Re: what is the best website to buy a banana plant
Yeah, Going Bananas is a pretty good site. I've never ordered from them, but they have a great selection! I'm not sure where my bookmark for that site went...had it bookmarked at one time, but it wasn't now. Musta been before my hard drive crashed.
And I gotta say: Quote:

Re: what is the best website to buy a banana plant
I haven't tried eBay yet for bananas, but I've bought many plumeria cuttings via them....all positive. Of course, if the vendor is in Thailand, you know it's going to take a while.

Re: what is the best website to buy a banana plant
I think the biggest problem with eBay plants is that many of these operations have so many things going on and, perhaps, don't have good operating procedures to handle a wide variety of things and might be more likely to mislabel plants.
It took me 2 or 3 years to learn that the Dwarf Orinoco I bought from Wellspring on eBay were something else. It's a 10' plant that produced some good fruit for me last year even though it bloomed in late August and it's quite cold hardy, but it bugs me that it's an unknown. It might be a tall Namwah. |
Re: what is the best website to buy a banana plant
Harvey, IF it is a tall Namwa, I would be elated! I have been looking for one of those. You know what I will say next, so I won't bother to ask. hehe
I bought 3 bananas from them last year. They were my first bananas. A Dwarf Namwah, Raja Puri and Truly Tiny. We will soon find out what I really have. So far, so good. I think I have baby pictures in my gallery. |
Re: what is the best website to buy a banana plant
I have bought a lot of plants from wellspring. I did receive the wrong passion vine and let them know, and it was replaced with the correct one. You can't go wrong ordering from them.

Re: what is the best website to buy a banana plant
Those look really good gecko. I think I might order one or two from Green earth since everyone has given great reviews, I'm also considering ordering some from ebay. Im also looking for bamboo but I dont want to pay and arm and a leg.

Re: what is the best website to buy a banana plant
I received my 2 Ebun Muzak from another member here, Extreme Banana. Thanks Ed! Super good communication, gave me two for the price of one and they were good sized pups. Excellent packaging, too. Nice job!

Re: what is the best website to buy a banana plant
Let us know how the transaction goes Steven. My Banana budget is shot for this year, but I do want to increase my collection, and different companies have different types.
(I went with Green earth kinda blind, but they had the species I wanted I just hoped for the best.) Gecko |
Re: what is the best website to buy a banana plant
There is a nursery right next to me with good prices on bananas. I was going to go visit yesterday but there was very heavy rain all day. I think my rajapuri cost me like $12 or $15. Now I have 4 of them growing off that one purchase lol.

Re: what is the best website to buy a banana plant
I am gonna have to relist my picks for best sites to go .....Green Earth AND Logees. Logees may be a bit more expensive but, I recieved the 2 naners I ordered and they both arrived very healthy and properly ID'ed. Plus, I bought my Musa "Double" mahoi from them roughly a week before they put that on sale, and the day they shipped it they sent me an email saying they read on "The Org" that I payed full price for it and that they are giving me a credit for the price difference. If that isn't wonderful customer service...I don't know what would be! Gota respect a company that actively seeks out and pays attention to what customers are saying/posting.
