Default What banana do I get next?

So last year I got an Orinoco from a neighbor and planted it. That led me to meeting a very helpful local from this forum where I got a dwarf namwa, raja puri, some type of Brazilian red banana, and some unknown finger banana variety he said grows very fast and might be an apple banana. I was thinking about getting a Mysore but I am not totally convinced yet. I have room for two more one of which can grow 15 ft and won’t get in the way of anything but the other should be limited to around 12 feet max if possible. I want a banana that is delicious and productive. Also something that is low maintenance ie has good disease resistance and doesn’t require babying. What are some of the best varieties out there for me to get and if possible where on the space coast of Florida can I get them locally. Thanks in advance for all of your help. This truly is a wonderful resource and a wealth of information. So what are your favorites?!

Varieties I supposedly bought: Manzano, Cavendish, Blue Java, Sweetheart, and Gros Michel.
What it seems I actually have: Brazilian, Cavendish, Namwah, Dwarf Red, Gros Michel, Pisang Ceylon, Veinte Cohol and SH 3640, and American Goldfinger. FHIA 1, Paggi and FHIA 17... Always room for one more.

Noted. Thank you. I didn’t know that there was an “improved” variety. Are there significant differences? Thanks!

I say FHIA-01 Goldfinger or SH3640 for the 10’ one. Both amazing growers and reliable fruiters. If you like the Brazillian type taste like me you will love them!

For the tall I would say Praying Hands. Very cold hardy and taste is amazing. If you like vanilla ice cream you will love the taste! They get 13-15’ here.

2nd choice for the 10’ I would say a Mysore type like a Pisang Ceylon. It’s the improved one Richard suggested! They grow great! Basically it has better disease resistance than standard Mysore. It’s still not immune!

2nd choice for the tall. There is tall namwa. I like the taste! Others don’t. Cold hardy also! They make insanely huge bunches and are crazy productive! Very sweet!

More options: (hard to find/rare) etc.
-For the dwarf Musa Patupi (aka Kokomo) it is from PNG! A “short cycle” plant. Only gets 8’ or so and produces my #1 favorite tasting banana!!

-Musa iholena Tigua. They are fast producers! Taste amazing and get 13’ or so.

-Maybe for the tall a real blue java. They taste great and are very cold hardy.

I can think of lots more! Don’t ask me to choose! I can’t!!! Could be why I grow 100+ varieties lmao.

Pisang Ceylon. The cohorts in South Florida can provide you with one.

Lots of great info thanks! So what I am leaning towards right now are a Pisang Ceylon, SH3640, FHIA-01, or Musa Patupi/Kokomo. I had never heard of the last one but your review of it seems excellent. Also the “short cycle” seems intriguing. Anyone that has any of these as pups that I could drive to please let me know. I would offer pups from my current supply as trade but what I have is all still young so I could offer cash instead and first shot at pups down the road at some point when I have some. I only need(and can only fit!) two more so since I can’t really pick from the above choices if anyone has two of the above 4 that would solve my probkem. Thanks!

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get oil from banana seed, I realize that most eating bananas have minimal seeds however I discovered a wild variety and wondered if I could get oil from it.

Ty, bro, you forgot to mention the FHIA-3 Sweetheart, the "monster grower!".....LMAO!....

As Chris wants, delicious (creamy, lemon taste), very reliable, productive, low in maintenance (drought resistant), has very good disease resistance and doesn’t require babying!....

FHIA-3 Sweetheart, very robust, strong and stout Nana plant!....Definitely a "monster grower!".....

Chris, if you like lemonade or lemon taste, then you will love FHIA-3 Sweetheart!....

All edible varieties have zero seeds.

I would love to do a trip to going bananas but that would mean a 4 hour drive each way. TyTaylor actually helped me with my decision for my last purchase but I ended up finding the varieties locally. I messaged him yesterday and emailed as well and that seems like it may be my best option to purchase from this time around. Thanks for the referral it’s good to hear people say that he is a good reliable seller before I purchase. I am leaning toward the Pisang Ceylon and the FHA 01 definitely but I would like perhaps one more variety as well and I am researching the other suggestions here. The Patupi/Kokomo intrigues me as it is a fast grower and that is intriguing to me. I have also read that the SH3460 seems to be a very reliable robust plant but have heard mixed reviews on the flavor. Hoping that I can buy them and get them in the ground soon. Thanks again all.
