Purchased a ton of new trees, thought I was being smart by marking the names on the trunks with a sharpie. Normally a sound idea.
But I did this on the hottest day of the year, transported them in a hot truck, and suffered 'slight' damage, nothing of any real issue. But I failed to consider that some of the leaves and outer stem would die off. So I have a number of really nice bananas with no bloody idea of what I have. Funny thing was I had plenty of nice metal tags for them, and didn't put the on right away. Oh well.... Sure hope some of these are easier to identify than they look....... |

With some luck, I managed to ID several of the bananas, some had one or two letters on the stems that I was able to figure out what they were, and some easy ones helped to eliminate the numbers.
As it stands now, only a few remain unmarked. I was worried I was really in the hole over this one, but thankfully, process of elimination is going to eliminate a few others. 2 Sweethearts, which will be really easy to ID once the new leaves unfurl since they are so massive. Lesson learned..NEVER procrastinate on marking your bananas. |

Have Sharpie will travel (especially the big fat one).. lol and a couple rolls of different colored duct tape work for me. I think I used the pink on the ICe Creams, and Purple on the Caligolds. Duct tape doesn't rott that I know of and comes off quick.. :^)

problem was I did use a sharpie, but suffered some damage during transport, and the sheaths that I wrote on ended up drying up and dying. So my makeshift labeling was out the window so to speak. heh heh. I'll know better next time. |
