Joy Transplanting Aeae

What is the best way to transplant an aeae banana? The plant is about 10' tall and it will get dug up. Should I just chop most of the leaves off, whack half of the trunk off or what is best? I am going to plant it in a pot until it starts to grow again and I decide where I am going to plant it. Also, I live in zone 10b. What can I do to help it survive?
TIA

Get as big a root-ball as you can handle. Do the transplant in the evening when it's cooler.Water it in and place in a shaded area for a few day's

I would post that also. It has been very, very hard to find one in my area for a reasonable price. I really have not looked super hard though. I had one a while back, but it died. This time I am going to do my best with it. I did get a good lead recently, but they won't be ready for several months. After I make sure mine is growing good I will have to contact the person and let him know that I found one.

It will get dug up in the am and then planted in the pm. I do have a shaded place to put it. I am going to get as much root and soil as I can when it is dug up. I will probably lightly water it until I pot it up in the evening.

I am still not sure how much to chop off.

Why dig it up in AM if you plan to replant in PM?

I wouldn't cut anything off either since when you pot it up you will loose the lower leaves while its regrowing roots in the pot.
How big a pot you putting that AeAe in? :^)

If it is cool out and you get plenty of roots you may not loose any leaves

I found a lead 2 but I have to wait for warmer weather and for them 2 grow a bit more. I think I will save up and get 1 so I have one for insurance seeing as they are getting harder to find from a reliable person.

We were participating in the cardboard box races today. I just came across the bananas 2 days ago so I didn't want to miss out on them. I had to pick them up today so I had to do it in the am amd plant in the pm. I also got 4 other kinds of bananas and 2 kinds of bamboo.

I also ended up cutting off most of the leaves just so I could fit everything in the truck.
