Default SOS! Abyssinian banana

Came home from work today to find that one of my beautiful Abyssinians had fallen over!
Upon further inspection it appears to have rotted out at the base and doesn’t seem to have very many roots left intact. It is still pushing out a healthy new leaf in the middle, but what do I doooooo???!?!?

My current plan is to try to cut of the bottom rotten part and hit it with some rooting powder, pot it in 50/50, perlite/ cactus soil and stick it in a shaded area of the garden and hope for the best.

But wanted to hear from y’all before I just went at it

Tried to cut out all the rot washed with just a little bleach water mix, sprinkled in some rooting hormone, potted it up and stuck it in the shade.

She’s on life support and I don’t think it’s looking good

I don’t have any advice or a solution but what you are doing seems reasonable. Good luck!

Any ideas as to what may have caused this?
Don’t want this spreading to anything else
