Potting a Abyssinian Murelli

Soon it will be time to bring in my very-very PLUMP Abyssinian Murelli....it measures 8 inches at the base and is just over 5 foot high.....its a beautiful-healthy plant!

Since I am in the Northern tropical zone of 5....I have 2 dig this sucker up...do I just cut all the leaves off and leave the new emerging leave!

Knowing it has a 8 inch base , do I just put it in a 9 inch pot, bring it in and put it in the sun room and water it when ever I remember to.....because I'll be out shoveling snow!!

Did I just answer my own question.....looking 4 any and all advise!

Honestly, if you have space to bring it indoors and keep it growing (in a sunny location) I would TOTALLY DO SO! Just leave all the leaves on it and dig up the corm/pot it. Water it when it gets dry and keep it in the sun as much as possible. It's very possible to keep bananas growing year round in colder climates (I've done so in zone 5 for years) when kept in a warm/sunny window all winter. If you have the space, I wouldn't risk the 'overwintering dormancy' issues if you can just keep it growing indoors! Plus naners are an excellent addition to any room's vibe!

Lets see.....I have 6 - 5' Majestic Palms - 2 7' Spindle Palms - 2 5' Hibiscus Tree form - 2 5' Hibiscus bush form & a HUGE Varigated Schefflera that's about 4' wide and 4' tall!

TRUST ME, I don't have the room to bring this sucker in, I'd love to ..but that's just not going 2 happen....I bet it's 6' across...I have to be able to, like....move and turn around ....LOL! There's a pic of it in my gallery!

if it needs to go dormant for the winter put it in the dark and don't water it all winter Ensete are horribly susceptible to rot when in this state the corm has sufficient reserves for the winter if its that big yes cut off all the leafs do not lay it on its side there is a good thread out there i cant remember the title by a German guy that tried laying his on its side because it was to tall for his basement and the thing grow side ways the next spring it killed its self trying to grow out make sure were you store it on the cool side say around 50 deg

LOL...fair enough....fair enough! Guess dormancy would be your option then, huh?
