I sent a Montbeliardii in for TCing but it never took for some reason. Kev as you know I have a Musa that is currently being TCd and there has been a delay in starting it so it will be a while before anything happens.

Is it newforesthostas selling the Golden Zebrina ? My last Zebrina from ebay turned out to be a variegated one

So what're you getting done Mark?
And whereabouts do you send them to be Tc'd?
A good plant to get done would be E.Hiniba don't you think?as Kobas was the only place to get them from like the Monties.

Steve its the Siam Ruby. Its being done down at southampton.

Hiniba would be a good shout. I only have one though and its a bit of a gamble if it dont work as I found out with the Monty:2190:

Maureliis can be bought cheap from the council growers so its not worth doing them either.

How big do the plants need to be?
I allways presumed they needed to be large mature plants
Is that why you were thinking of getting another one the other week?

The Siam Ruby was only 18" tall when it was sent. So I wanted a back up in case it failed.

well, once i've got costings for tc i may well come back to you if thats OK? I just think that some of the less readily available species should be out there for others to enjoy at a reasonable price. A quick trawl through the UK sites incl. ebay, yields no more than the usual suspects species-wise. I would just like to see a greater variety of plants out there in the market.

The 2 Basjoo Sakhalins arrived today, healthy plants, well packed in poster tubes. I'll pot them up tomorrow, take a few photos and pop them in amongst the regular Basjoo so I can monitor the differences, we'll see.

Well guys, I gave into temptation and I bought a golden zebrina and dwarf cavendish from newforesthostas on ebay yesterday. I will take some pics when I get them potted up. Will they grow in the greenhouse (heater is on!) or should I grow them inside till spring...what do you think?

Grow them in the house for a minute, so you can watch them more closely. Its really up to you! Magicgreen

I think I'll do that for a while, that should impress my partner...lol..he is already complaining that the house looks more like a nursery than the actual one down the road.....roll on spring!

tell him that plants and trees give off oxygen, and that it is more healthy to have them in the house then in the gh or yard. haha.

I got a zebrina of them a couple of days ago,it turned up today in perfect condition.Their p&p method is top class.If I get a chance I'll post a pic of it.
Can't wait to see what else they're going to offer

Steve, Iam attempting to grow a Zebrina now from seed, with this smoke stuff i purchased online. OH Yea.....Its gonna work! Still waiting on my veleutina to germinate! ( fingers-crossed)

I might just have to purchase a heat mat!

Good luck with your seeds Lynn.
I tried velutina last year with no success,but then everything I tried last year was no good.This year I'm abit more hopeful that I'll get something to grow.
It'd definately be worth getting a heatmat,I use mine to supply a bit of extra warmth to my little nanas,pups etc.
I've not tried germinating seeds with one yet though as there never seems to be enough room left on it lol.
