All I can say is thank you so much to everyone. Special thanks to Pauly for helping me to un-pot, trim, pack and ship all of these in 105-110 degree heat and high humidity. It has been quite a project and much more work than I ever imagined. Also, a special thanks to Harvey for keeping things straight and helping me to know which end was up when I was completely lost!
You are all a terrific bunch of people and it may take me awhile to reply to the 250+ emails from you. Give me a chance to get settled and I will be in touch as soon as I can. Thank you too to mediahound for letting me do this! I can't thank everyone enough for your support, generosity and kindness. If I haven't sent your total amount email to you yet, it will be coming out tomorrow night, I hope. We put a huge dent in the banana population today and have high expectations of finishing tomorrow. I am really sad to see them go, but glad that they are all going to wonderful new homes. Believe me, it is hard to trim off the beautiful leaves and I try to keep as much of the root system as possible. But, they are better off this way by reducing transpiration. We are packing them as well as possible, so reduce the chance of shipping damage. I have to also admit, keeping track of who gets what is a chore, but we are being as careful as we can. Also, some of these banana ID's were sent to me, so I am trusting that all are what they are supposed to be. If you should get one that grows out to be something else, please accept my apologies. I can only rely upon what I am told when buying them and most have not fully grown out yet. I am fairly certain of 90% of them, but you know how things can mixed up by the growers from time to time. Thanks so much!!! I will be in touch with each of you by email shortly for your totals for Paypal. |

Well, I leave Tuesday morning on the early-bird flight. I will be out of touch with everyone here for awhile, but I will return. After all, the threadwrecking must go on.
As a side note, all plants have been shipped. Some of you have yet to visit Paypal and I would sure appreciate it if you could do so before Sunday. Thanks to those of you who have already paid. Thanks to all of you! |

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand. Take care, Scot.

Got my EV today. Looked great with a half inch of growth during travel time. It's planted outside and a few hours later got a nice rain.

The TC equipment I bought from Scot were sent UPS on Tuesday last week and received on Thursday. The plants were sent UPS on Wednesday morning, plus some remaining TC stuff via FedEX. The FedEX package arrived Saturday, so I checked the tracking for plant box. It said delivery was for Monday, and on time! No box on Monday, forgot to check. At 5:30PM today, I checked the tracking and it said that the package was in Doraville, GA. I just spent over 2 hours on the phone with UPS and all this time, they'd just give me the run around. All I wanted them to do is get the people in GA to divert it back to Seattle, and they can't do that since it wasn't lost, they said. How do they know that? Well, because they can track it and it's in GA. I would keep reminding them that it's already been to 5 different cities before Doraville, GA, so wouldn't it be reasonable to ask to have it re-directed to Seattle? No, because it's not lost. Well, after over 2 hours of run around, they finally relented and put an intercept package notation on the tracking form.
I paid almost $35 for the shipping, so you can imagine the weight and the number of plants that are in that package. One of them is a CA Gold, too! I hope that they don't turn up boiled bananas by the time they get here. |

Over the last few years I've ordered from a couple online stores that only use UPS and have had increased problems with them and lengthy shipping time frames from the get go in my opinion. I've had the same thing happen with destination problems also and had to hope for them to be able to intercept .... sadly enough I don't order from these two companies anymore because they only use UPS.
I remember when UPS was the fast and reliable mode of shipping!! |

I have had very good shipping experiences with USPS, UPS, and FedEx but all of them have screwed up at one time or another. I shipped a little over 600 USPS Priority packages last year and all but one got delivered on time. That one package took about two weeks to get from the local hub to my customer. I had another time when my customer swore that the package was not delivered even though USPS scanned it as delivered. Fortunately, my customer was patient and persisted at her local Post Office. The Postmaster humored her and check in back after the second time and found the package sitting on a shelf in the back. I've since learned that sometimes a carrier will scan packages as being delivered when they begin their route instead of when they actually deliver the package. I had this happen to me about a month ago when I saw a package coming my way was shown as delivered. The carrier was running late and did not have time to drive down my driveway as he was facing a deadline for mail pickup back at the Post Office.
DHL was on my all-time hit list for a few years. I bought about $8,000 of camera gear through Dell over a period of a couple of years (some for resale) and a few times DHL left the packages at my neighbor's front door. I gave up and would just drive 35 miles to their hub and pick up my packages from them after a couple of those experiences. For the cheap stuff I've got in recent years, they have seemed to do pretty good, though! Sorry to hear of your problems, Chong. That sucks. |

My seven bananas (someone has to continue collecting varieties with Scot in China), made it in one day. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
I ordered a 64 bit 8 Gig computer last year for my office from Dell. They delivered it two blocks away from me and I had to go and take it away from the non-profit org that set it up in their computer lab. They couldn't understand why I was upset with them??????? My New York up bringing probably insulted them. Today was the day Scot was planning on leaving. I wish him luck!
