Yes they are... they are growing well and dwarf brazilian and double mahoi are already putting out some pups... i want to get one praying hands, AEAE, dwarf orinoco and dwarf namwah too...

My bigest banana plants are on the ground now: Rajapuri, Dwarf Cavendish, Dwarf Red, Dwarf Brazilian, Cardaba, Double Mahoi, Williams, Goldfinger, and one banana plant from Madeira Island. :goteam:

Thank's! I'm a bit of afraid from cold still to come, but i was ansious to do it, and if i have some cold i will protect them... In the landscape you can see some of my guava trees, avocados, and in the flowerbed some pineapple plants. :08:

We've had a few hours of 30 degrees here and my plants are fine--even the ones in pots--even the smaller ones. But they weren't in a warm toasty place when we had nights in the 40s; they got used to increasingly cooler temperatures. Your babies are small enough that it's easy to toss a sheet over them just to be sure. Looking forward to flag and fruit pictures along with taste reports; I'm particularly interested in hearing about the Madeira Island one.

Thank you! Yes of course i will report if i'm lucky to get fruit. I have very hope they survive to any cold we could get. Untill now we don't have any cold this winter. I just count two weak frost nights. :goteam:

This banana plant from Madeira Island is an old plant that came from Brazil many time ago, and i think it's a dwarf brazilian... they are resisting very well untill now. I cover them during the night and take it with day light... the ones with worse looking is the dwarf red and the williams, but they are the yougest ones. I'm praying for spring time! :2623:

My banana plants in the ground are taking almost all nights of cold temp and even some frost. They are covered but i think they are taking it very well. Rajapuri not even noticed any damage in leaves... double mahoi, williams and dwarf red are the poor looking, but surviving well. I'm praying for spring all the time! LOL

It seams they survived... i covered them, but we never know... we got a lot of snow but no acumulation. Thank God! :08:

Yes the last snow fall was 10 years ago... regarding the grapes for now they didn't sprout yet... but almond crops lost 90%!

Ouch, that's not good... Commercial crops or domestic? Either way it's sad when crops are lost, even if it doesn't affect me. I don't eat nuts.

Hope your plants are okay. We've had some temps in the 30s; the leaves on my bananas are quite bedraggled. But they're obviously alive and I'll bet yours are also; if the ground had frozen then chances wouldn't be good I don't think.

Yes, even the very dry and beat up plant I picked up beside the road and cut off to 15" of P-stem is shooting up. At first the spike was very pale green and I worried it was not real growth but perhaps a release of pressure but today I noticed that the top is leaf green. Gee, I hope that doesn't mean it will fruit when it's that short...easy picking I guess but very odd.

Commercial and domestic. Almond and cherry trees flowered 2 months early with the warm December and January. When we think that winter was over he arrived and say Hi! Very bad!

Hi! Here the floor never ever got frozen. So, i think even with this cold weather and a bit protection my small banana trees will survive.

Was it also windy? I grew an apricot "bush" (Manchurian apricot bushes are not) for the EX because he said he loved apricots; he did not and I hate them unless dried. It always flowered in February or March in the DC area which was long before the last potential snowfall. You'd think that would be the kiss of death but it nearly always did produce as long as cold/snow was not accompanied by wild winds.

Unless you've posted some "toasted ones" lately, I have seen your pictures. I am not posting of my "bit" plants and I'm not looking forward to pruning off the bad leaves. When bananas are small, it's easy to cut them off with good clippers; when they get big I end up using a knife. Talk about tough!
