Can two plants make up a banana grove. Maybe three? I am looking for bragging rights here so I can tell my friends I have a banana grove.

I would say once you hit 30 mats you are beyond a garden. I guess the technical term for a banana field is plantation.

If acres of bananas is a plantation, then I would say 3 would only qualify as a "planting" of bananas. Even with a little artistic license, a grove, although having no exact defining number, would seem to be a large group of bananas, the exact number of which is not immediately determinable. To echo Richard.....three is a good start! As long as you can keep one banana ahead of your friends, I think you have some limited bragging rights just the same. Best regards!

Sunfish's link suggested you need enough to kill the grass due to the shade. I think four would do that if they are spaced properly.
So let's say four is a grove. Two groves makes a plantation. Sounds good to me anyway. Thanks for the replies. Randy

A group of banana trees is called a grove or copse.

I could spare about 20 plants to sell you so I would say that's enough to get you to grove status! :P

I will just keep calling mine either "the yard" or "the garden". Knowing my city, as soon as I start throwing around "plantation" or "grove", it will be taken the wrong way and city code enforcement will be paying me a visit to remind me that I am zoned "residential" and not "agricultural" and there is no way one person could eat all the bananas, tangerines, oranges, grapefruit, mangos, limes, tomatoes, eggplants, peppers...........

When the emergency crews have to cut you out of your house with a chainsaw, it would be a good start.
