All of the cortex of the mother rhizome was removed from the cub prior to planting.

Hopefully this one will be nicely variegated. :waving:

I checked the nub today and after 9 days it's got some nice root growth but no rhizome growth.

The nub was planted a couple inches below the soil level and because it's in CCS it's very easy to remove some sand to examine the rhizome more closely without having any negative affect on it. The top mulch makes it easy maintain the proper moisture level and because it's deep the temperature and moisture is more consistent.
