Keith,

I am trying to make sure that I have my FHIA-21 correctly identified in my collection. I cannot find a source that says whether or not the suckers have wine spots or not. I don't remember wine spots on the plants from TARS but that was 3 years ago and I didn't take notes. I would expect it to have wine spots being a plantain. I am stuck between whether this plant I have on my farm is a FHIA-21 or Hartón.

Few & faint, and it doesn't resemble any of the plantains that I grow. But keep in mind light affects the color intensity of those wine spots, color range is from white/green to dark red/purple.

Hector is just south of you and can probably post some photos.

Luis,

Yes like potatos!....Just cut in half means in half length and don't take the plantain peel off!...it will come easy off when they boiled green!....Also, a lot of people prefer them boil when they are ripe!....As I mentioned, search (internet) for a Mofongo recipe!..
