I have down here unprotected but I think you could. I don't know how tall you banana is but if it has 4' of p-stem or so I'd get a 20' heat-tape and wrap it around the trunk and wrap that in that frost cloth so it can breath or moisture can get out. You plug it in and hope power don't go out ( if power didn't go out I'd say you can forget about it till it warms up).. It shouldn't freeze.. :^)
