I'd be willing to bet that the plant in the Davesgarden link came from the same place ours did! And I don't think it will ever be cream-colored. I still say it is 'Miami Gold'. Maybe it is a namwah variety, but I have no idea. Hopefully you can get a better explanation from your friend. Keep us posted. R |

Sid, I think Dwarf Namwah will do fine. I haven't had mine in the ground yet but others up here have grown it okay. I'm in the Delta and got down to 29.5F this morning. I have quite a few bananas and most are still looking fine, though my Ae Ae is in sad shape.

Hello Novi Syatria, I don't know if Dwarf Namwah is the same as Pisang Kapal, but perhaps another member with more experience can tell. They look very young at this point so it may be hard to tell. I just learned that Dwarf Namwah is also called Pisang awak in some parts of the world. Your plants are nice!

Tony, how tall (and old) on average are yours at blooming size. Scott in Fla. says his are about 9'...any different for you? Mine will surely be different after whacking a foot off the top to overwinter but it's already got a good set of leaves back on it. It will go in the ground next spring....I'm guessing since I keep it growing 12 months it might be 7 or 8 ft after being somewhat stunted in a pot and cutting down....In zone 6 I 'd take it!

There's nothing "dwarf" about this banana. This looks like a candidate for a re-naming, "big namwah".
