Value? The variegation? Also, the variegation is visible, yet slight enough that I would not expect burning by the noon-day sun.

When I first saw those two offshoots I knew they were worthless because they would die once separated from their mother plant so I continued walking. Then I started wondering if they might be from the same mother plant. Judging from the distance between the two offshoots if they did come form the same mother plant that old rhizome would have quite a bit of value. It obviously had to be large and in order to get large it couldn't have been excessively variegated which makes it perfect rhizome for propagation. It just so happened that it's first two offshoots were worthless but I'm sure it's gonna produce many beautiful ones.

Can you tell us why you would have passed these by, on 1st look? I know I would have thought the smaller of the two would have probably not amounted to much but would have waited a little longer and give it a chance. The larger of the two shows some decent amount of green and an emerging spear with a green tip so I would have thought it may show more in the future. I think I would have had to consider digging the corm up though, and seeing what I could propagate off of it before the suckers drew up all it's reserves.
