Musa Gracilis
 

Has anyone grown this banana and if so do you have any pictures of it please?

I have seen a picture of one but it looks like a normal Zebrina. I would like to know if they are Mottled with burgundy and green markings please.

Just saw one on E-bay. Looks like zebrina or Rojo to me as well.

True M. gracilis does not have the leaves like M. acuminata that are depicted in at least one photo I have seen.

Thanks Guys it was the one on ebay I saw. i will not be bidding anyway as its one of our members who is trying to buy it.

If you ever come across M. ʻLeyte Whiteʻ, if it is what its supposed to be and not mislabled, this is likely a hybrid of M. gracilis and M. violascens (which are very closely related species), and has flowers very similar to M. gracilis and M. violascens.

I saw it too and the photo doesn't ring true to me. none of the descriptions i can find (DRC, etc.) refer to the red variegation shown in his photo.

I have seen one time a real picutre of a musa Gracilis, and the flowers are like Leyte White , and that sort looks a little bit like Milky way..

That picture from sunshine is definetly not M. gracilis, it looks to be an ornamental hybrid of some sort with chromosome number 2n=22 (Eumusa and Rhodochlamys), definitely not a Callimusa as true M. gracilis is.

The picture in the wiki is accurate.

nope. no seeds at all as mine are too young. i'll visit my friends big clump (the one in the pic) soon and hunt for seeds... these musa dont like strong sun and get burnt. the like it shaded and growing at the edge of water.

Stokes have them down as being around 5-10ft tall so they would make a good container plant. The leaves in the first picture show hardly any signs of shredding so that must be a well protected bunch.

they're in deep shade and growing on the side of a pond.
