Hello...
I was hoping for some advice on whether or not this stalk is dead. It sure looks like it with how black it is. I wrapped it very well for the winter, but I fear water was able to get into it during the frost. I live in NC, 7a. It was not that bad of a winter either. Looking at the outside of the stalk, I am not sure if there is anything to save or not, but wanted to turn to the experts. Thanks for the help. Tom [IMG] |

It certainly doesn't look too good....maybe whack another foot down and check the core...see if it is rotten or green. Good luck..

Thank you for the reply. I did cut off about 1.25 feet and the center is white and wet. Seems much healthier, but I guess I will need to see what happens. Is there anything I need to do with that white center or just wait to see if a leak comes out?
