Hello from central middle Tennessee. I grew up in southern Florida and am trying to bring some of that flora here. In particular, bananas!

It takes a little more work and planning, but many on here can testify to it being possible. Welcome.

I've been growing bananas here in Missouri since I was 12 years old and now I'm 38. I've had great success and have even tasted the fruits of my labor as they say. Over wintering as all you have to get used to doing. It has been a lot of fun and my wife has even begun to enjoy it a little bit too. Lol

I grow Gran Nain, Orinoco , namwah, Gros Michel , Thai black, Manzano, veinte cohol, and red iholene. Oh, and ice cream. I've had fruit from Gran Nain and Orinoco. My ice cream is getting close. I'm really hopeful this year. Banana collecting has became a bad habit for me. Lol I have a building I put them in for the winter. They look a little rough by spring but they always look great after a few weeks outside come may.

Jamie... Gros Michel in Missouri? I hear they are hard to flower and fruit in Florida.(Too cold, but I got one anyway.) Let me know if you ever get any.

I have a heated greenhouse that I put my bananas in during the winter and that helps me out alot. You are right though ,that Gros Michel does not like the cold. It is doing very well now that spring has arrived and Temps have warmed up. I hope it makes fruit eventually, I really want to give it a try.
