I likewise bought a similar looking banana at a big box hardware store (Home Depot). And eventhough the pot had a tag labeling the plant as Banana - Dwarf Cavendish
Musa acuminata I was challenged by the bananas.org "experts" for calling it a Dwarf Cavendish. I've since purchased a Dwarf Red from a Florida grower and must admit my so called DC looks more like the purchased Dwarf Red that all the photos I've seen of DC. Here's another look at my potentially mis-labeled banana.
So my vote now goes for
Dwarf Red
By the way, a matrix of Banana Cultivars and International Synonyms from the University of Hawaii at Manoa lists
Dwarf Red, Dwarf Cuban Red, Dwarf Jamaican Red, Indian Dwarf Red, and Maroon as all being acceptable synonyms for the same banana cultivar.
