Mine's blooming too!
I was out of town for a few weeks, and when I returned I surveyed the yard and saw that I had a lot of palm fronds to trim, etc. (That was last Wednesday.) I also noticed that there was an odd leaf at the top of my main IC and was worried that the automatic irrigation did not do its thing or maybe the bugs were getting it and I had some damage.
So I go out with the clippers to get those pesky fronds and happened to look up. Shazam! There was a bloom hidden on the back side of the ice cream. The same plant I have photos of from the winter freeze in my album. I saw one hand with about 9 fingers on it. Today I have 3 hands, each with at least 7 visible fingers, and a big fat bud below that. (They are rather hidden and hard to see and I didn't want to tramp on things nor rip anything down just to get an exact count.)
I was nervous about her slow growth this year. I wanted her to get at least ten leaves by June so that fruit would have enough energy to develop and still enough time to ripen by when our usual freezes come. Indeed, she has about 8 feet of pstem, at least ten (shredded) leaves above that, a pup with about 5 feet of pstem and another pup of maybe 12 inches total height. I think we will have a yellow Christmas this year!
