Default Re: Banana Bags

Well... The plantations have bags specially made to cover their bananas; they're a specific type of UV-resistant, lightly perforated plastic. Bagging is normally done to keep pests, like monkeys and a small bird called a bananaquit, from getting at the fruit, and also protects the fruit from sunburn. Some plantations (I'm looking at you, Chiquita) also spray the bags with pesticides to discourage insects.

If you want to do this yourself, you can use blue plastic garbage bags. Cut a hole in the bottom to go over the bunch, and leave the top open downwards.
