i mean it is pretty cool.. how the basjoos can go from this:

in 6 months.... such cool plants!
hanging out under the wood chips all winter and then just exploding in growth
here is a balbisiana from seed (well a pup of a pup of a pup of a pup.... of a seedling)
which is 2 hrs north of here...
it gets shade the majority of the day and only a bit of sun for an hour or two in the evening
it was planted in the early summer and will be dug up and brought home for winter
