Default Re: Musa Nono

About 3 weeks ago I decided to move my potted Musa Nono from it's all summer outdoor full sun spot to my greenhouse as we were forecast to get one freakish night into the lower 30's F. It had already experienced several 40's and 50's F temps. I also decided to remove the original mother plant and leave the 4 babies, as they were, in their pot. Using a sharp knife I cut the upper part of the mother corm loose along with the original trunk. The cut off corm was weirdly long at about 4" and 2" in diameter not including the trunk. That may be due to it being tissue culture. I treated both cut surfaces with a fungicide powder and potted up the mother in a very well drained mix. I was a little nervous about this as we were going into winter and I rarely heat my greenhouse with lot's of nights getting into the high 40's and 50's F and an occasional dip to the 30's F. I potted it into a very well drained mix, removed all but one leaf, and brought it into my 70F home and put it under an LED light and in a south facing single window. After just one week the plant was already rooting out and beginning to push a new leaf and there is a 2nd leaf now about 3/4 of the way out. All in all this Nono plant has been a lot tougher than I expected.
