Mine just didn't do until it wanted to. I got it from Larry last year, mid summer I guess. It was a great looking specimen. I potted it up and it grew a bit but it got late and I had to bring it in after Thanksgiving. It remained stable until damn near killed on the first warm day of the year. It struggled then I planted it. Boom, and as you can see there's a decent pup up very close to it. Now the runners.
On the other hand my in the ground basjoo looks good, is throwing a few pups but just doesn't want to get tall at all. One pup has overtaken the "mother". Maybe they're dwarfs

They look good though just would have guessed they'd have been taller by now. I got that one from Ted down in Melborne, Green Earth maybe?
