What's your experience with using grass clippings as supplementary fertilizer?

My plants grow great but it doesn't really impact my chemical fertilizer program as far as N-P-K is concerned. I consider it bonus N-P-K. I think of the grass clippings as weed suppression, evaporation control, and minor element supplementation. I believe that it provides a different type of N-P-K from a quality standpoint sorta like a slow carb (brown rice) vs. fast carb (white rice) thing.
