I find it astonishing you can't find a basjoo over there. They are a dime a dozen here. Every small nursery around seems to have them. And they are dirt cheap. Even Costco was selling 6 footers for $20 earlier this year.

I often see them at places like Canadian Tire or Home Depot being sold as 'hardy banana' - often they are small, and not infrequently in the houseplant section, but basjoo nonetheless.

Let me know in about a month if you can't find one.
